About Yuqi

Hello everyone, My name is Yuqi (pronounced “Yu Chee”).

I am a fully qualified Chinese teacher, having obtained a Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London)

I have been teaching Mandarin for the past four years and teach both in schools as well as privately.

I am a friendly and outgoing person, love teaching and speak with a perfect standard Mandarin accent.

I use a selection of excellent teaching materials, but am happy to use your own textbooks when required. I teach beginner to advanced levels and take on both children and adults.

I have taught students from various English universities (Cambridge, SOAS, LSE), prepared others for their GCSEs as well as the international Chinese proficiency test HSK (levels 1 to 6) and taught professionals planning their trips to China.

I charge £30 per hour or £50 for 2hr sessions and teach throughout the week, including weekends. I can take on groups of up to 4 people at no extra cost.

For one-to-one and group lessons, I can teach within the Angel/Highbury&Islington area and am happy to work in cafes/offices when need be.

I also offer a 30 minute trial lesson free of charge.

Yuqi first tutored me when I was studying Mandarin at a Chinese university back in 2013 and has been teaching me again in London since 2016. I am currently a 3rd year Chinese Studies undergraduate at SOAS and have, over the years, been taught by a number of different Chinese teachers.
