I have had the privilege of having great teachers throughout my years of study. I was born listening to Classical, Jazz, Salsa, Rock and Pop music. I have been teaching for many years now and it honours me helping my pupils reach their goals, whether they are taking exams or just looking to improve their piano skills and have a great time playing. Music has always been part of my life, how to forget listening to my dad playing really high notes on the trumpet as a child?! Teaching is a beautiful art and all musicians/artists should pursue doing it. These piano lessons focus on Classical, Rock, Pop, Jazz & Salsa styles + the importance of understanding basic rhythms on percussion instruments. After all, the piano is a very percussive instrument. Please check my YouTube channel to get an idea.

Classical Piano:

Classical music is undoubtedly the father/mother of all music, at least that is my view on the subject. In these sessions we deal with different aspects of Classical Piano playing, such as interpretation of each period (baroque, classical, romantic, modern), technique, which involves selecting good fingering to enhance a given piece, or by simply using the arm and wrist in a manner that brings out the best of a musical piece. Exercises to empower the hand and fingers will also be discussed. The above is just to mention a few aspects of Classical Piano playing.

Rock & Pop:

Here we cover all aspects of Rock Piano playing, we also deal with the most common rock chords and progressions. Special emphasis is placed on music theory as it relates to rock including blues scales, chord construction & substitution in the most common rock keys. Pop music is eclectic, and often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country; nonetheless, there are core elements that define Pop music. Identifying factors include generally short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure) as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks.

Jazz & Salsa:

Jazz piano playing is a never-ending voyage due to its infinite vocabulary. The objective of the lessons is to allow the pianist to improvise with a degree of freedom which will allow him/her to express music as he/she chooses to. We shall cover aspects of harmony, voicings, styles, etc. On the other hand Salsa piano is a more rhythmic style, thus, it is important to understand how other instruments work in a Salsa ensemble in order to understand how our piano part fits in. We will focus on how to play montunos plus its possible variations, how to improvise in a Salsa style and many more. Feel free to contact me for further details.
