About Alexander Evan

I have studied composition and classical guitar at McGill University and Université de Montréal, two of the top music schools in the country. As an academic, I have received several prizes and distinctions, including research-creation scholarships from both Quebec (FRQ) and the federal government (SSHRC). Before going to music school, I toured and performed across Eastern Canada as a singer-songwriter and session musician. My self-produced recordings have received numerous award nominations, including Best Folk Album and Best Alternative Album from MusicNL in Newfoundland, Canada.

About the lesson

I draw on my experiences in both the classical and pop music worlds to offer students a broader view of music-making; I am eager to work with all students, from beginner to professional-level, in classical guitar, electric guitar, composition, music theory, songwriting, or any combination of these.
