About Tiffany
Math is part of an eight-year tutoring career during which I have taught 380 students of genuinely varying confidence levels and starting points. My science background shapes how I explain mathematical logic, always connecting abstract rules to something concrete and relatable that a student can picture. I am patient but honest, giving specific, targeted feedback rather than vague, generic praise that does not actually help. Many students arrive convinced they are simply not a math person, and helping them move past that belief is genuinely rewarding for me as a tutor. I stay available between sessions for quick questions, since momentum matters a great deal early on.

I open lessons with a short diagnostic question to see exactly where a student's understanding genuinely breaks down before deciding what to teach next in the sequence. Visual methods like number lines and diagrams support even purely algebraic topics, since most learners retain pictures noticeably better than abstract symbols alone ever manage to achieve. Homework stays short but genuinely consistent, and I always review it carefully before introducing any new material to the student. I track recurring mistakes in a running notebook and revisit them deliberately until they genuinely disappear from a student's independent work entirely. Timed practice increases gradually as exams approach, building real comfort with time pressure well before it actually matters.
