About William

My journey with Spanish has been a long one. I began learning Spanish when I was six years old at a Dual-Immersion Spanish school. I continued all the way through High School and college, and still practice my Spanish today (over 16 years!). In that time, I passed the AP Spanish test with a 5, attained a Spanish minor from my University, and worked as a tutor for three years during college. As a tutor there, I saw it all. I have worked with many students, beginners and intermediates just like you, and helped many people work through the challenges they experienced while learning and growing as Spanish speakers. I love tutoring, and helping other people break through sticking points, move through plateaus, and grow exponentially in their skills and confidence is the best part of the job, and a major reason I love to teach so much.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching is to learn by doing! I believe that conceptual learning is great, but what sticks with you is the active practice you do in a language. When learning new grammar, concepts, or lessons I strongly emphasize practicing and repeating what you have just learned. In Spanish this could mean practicing conjugation rules, speaking out loud to practice prompts for a test, or practicing a new tense. This can be challenging, but as a tutor, I'll be there with you to work through sticking points, demonstrate an unfamiliar concept, and provide more in-depth explanation whenever you need. These lessons are usually the best for beginner to intermediate Spanish students who are learning grammar, writing, and speaking, anywhere from middle school to college. More advanced learners, you are welcome too! I am more than happy to practice speaking and writing more in-depth. First class is free to try it out and see if you like it. Looking forward to working with you!
