About Monika
I have taught Expository Writing, mentored Honors students working on their projects and evaluated essays and project reports for a number of years, at a U.S. college.
I have complete faith in the ability of students to rise to any challenge they are presented with. In my extensive experience all they require is to understand that mistakes are stepping stones to better learning and not obstacles! It is how your brain tests itself on the novel learning environment before it.
I would know with my background in Cognitive Psychology. Grin!
I have had the opportunity to assist students facing absurdly close deadlines -- even those not in my own class. Neither of us knew how much we could be able to accomplish but the excitement of working together on a task under very limiting circumstances carried us through. Late night, very late at times, hurried snacks and intense discussions and evaluations eventually won the day! It was exhilarating and deeply rewarding to see these students present their work at a conference with a confidence that I am certain has stayed with them.
If there is one challenge that holds many students back that I have come upon frequently, it is that of a lack of awareness of their own potential. I can help!
