About Bill

I've spent over four decades in commercial finance and private company transactions — running an M&A advisory firm and a finance brokerage, and working almost exclusively with investors and business owners on real deals. Before that, I started out in the record industry in the early 1970s, so I've had more than one career built on understanding how money, value, and opportunity actually work.
Along the way I've written extensively about the difference between income and genuine wealth — how ownership, not just earnings, is what actually builds financial independence. I've found that most people were never taught this properly, even smart, successful people. It's not complicated once someone explains it plainly, without the jargon that usually gets in the way.
That's really why I want to teach. I've spent a career doing this work for clients at a high level, and I'd like to make some of that understanding accessible to people who are earlier in the journey — whether that's a business owner trying to raise finance for the first time, or someone who simply wants to think more clearly about their own money. I enjoy explaining things properly, and I think there's real satisfaction in helping someone leave a lesson genuinely understanding something they didn't before.

About the lesson

My lessons draw on over 40 years working in commercial finance, business fundraising, and private company transactions. Rather than teaching theory, I explain how lenders actually think, how businesses raise capital, and how real wealth gets built — the same way I'd brief a client, with no jargon and no filler.
I tailor each session to what you're actually trying to achieve. If you're a business owner, we might cover how to approach lenders or investors, what documentation and numbers matter most, and how to structure a raise. If you're focused on personal financial independence, we'll look at the real difference between income and wealth, and how ownership and compounding assets change your trajectory over time.
Lessons are conversational rather than lecture-style — I'll ask about your situation first, then build the session around it, using real examples from four decades of deals rather than textbook cases. Whether you want a single session to demystify a specific topic or an ongoing series building toward a clear financial plan, I'll adjust the pace and depth to suit you.
