About Oli

I am an artist, writer, and curator. I am completing my MA Curating at The Courtauld Institute, where I have worked across really exciting projects from curating a contemporary exhibition of art in a heritage site, to writing essays on Art collections in Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, to delivering public speaking to peers on art historical subjects which fascinate me.

Following my first-class degree in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University, I have developed my collective Art Writing Group, leading workshops across cutting-edge, contemporary art galleries around London from Raven Row to Soft Opening. Recently, we got funding to publish our first small-print art publication: the world of art, writing, and art books is one I am highly interested in supporting students to think about and develop in, from creative writing, to collage making for print.

I work part time as a Project Assistant, managing local art projects, workshops, and public engagement at an artist-led organisation where I work with people of all ages daily, and get to experience working in a fast-paced art environment all day long! Previously, I have interned for an art consultancy, worked as a freelance set dresser at a design company, and volunteered at a museum!

I love arts, culture, and heritage, and am excited to learn more about students’ interests and how we can work towards academic and artistic goals!

About the lesson

A lesson can be 30 minutes to an hour. The main focus of my lesson is to support and mentor students through UCAS applications, art foundation applications, essay writing, or portfolio development. If we study written work then please share it with me as a PDF in advance of our session. I have tutored and mentored students from 16-18 across an academic year in Lewisham, supporting them with portfolio advice, artistic development, and leading creative workshops to perfect their visual techniques! I am comfortable working with all ages having worked as an arts and crafts instructor for ages 4-15; tutored on a sixth form college pre-university art programme; and been an expert in Curation and Art for InvestIn Career Programmes, for 15-18 year olds. I am a calm, friendly, and patient tutor: I prioritise giving advice and support which is practical, action based, and leaves students feeling confident in what they have done so far but knowing what steps they need to take next.
