About Hina

My name is Hina Imtiaz, and I have completed my BS in Applied Linguistics. Along with my academic background, I have developed practical experience in teaching, data entry, data management, and administrative tasks.

I am proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Word and Excel, and I also have knowledge of Python, R, and Data Analytics. I have completed a Junior Data Analyst certification, which has helped me develop my analytical and problem-solving skills.

I would describe myself as a responsible, organized, detail-oriented, and quick-learning person. I am comfortable working independently as well as as part of a team. I always try to complete my work accurately and within deadlines.

About the lesson

Before entering the classroom, I always prepare a proper lesson plan. My lesson planning usually includes the following steps:

Identify the learning objectives

First, I decide what students should learn by the end of the lesson. I keep the objectives clear, realistic, and suitable for the students' level.

For example, if I am teaching "Computer Hardware," my objective might be:

"By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify basic computer hardware components and explain their functions."

Understand the students' level

I consider the age, grade, previous knowledge, and learning abilities of my students. I don't use the same teaching method for every class because students have different learning speeds and abilities.

Divide the lesson into sections

I normally divide my lesson into:

Introduction
Previous knowledge
Explanation of the new topic
Examples
Student activity
Practice
Assessment
Conclusion

This helps me keep the lesson organized and ensures that students remain involved.

Start with an interesting introduction

I try not to begin the lesson with a long lecture. I start with a simple question, real-life example, picture, or short activity.

For example, while teaching computer memory, I might ask:

"Where does your computer store the information you are currently working on?"

Then I allow students to give their answers before introducing the actual concept.

Explain concepts using simple language

Computer Science can sometimes be difficult for students because it contains technical terms. I therefore explain concepts using simple language and everyday examples.

For example, when explaining an algorithm, I might compare it to a recipe. Just as a recipe provides step-by-step instructions for preparing food, an algorithm provides step-by-step instructions for solving a problem.

Use practical activities

I believe students learn better when they participate rather than simply listen.

Depending on the topic, I use:

Computer lab activities
Pair work
Group activities
Short quizzes
Problem-solving exercises
Presentations
Demonstrations
Worksheets
Coding exercises

For example, after teaching basic programming, I might give students a small coding task and allow them to solve it individually or in pairs.
