About Farhan

My name is Farhan Uddin, and I am currently studying Computer Science. I have always had a passion for mathematics, which I demonstrated by achieving an A* in both Maths and Further Maths at A Levels. However, my perspective on maths has evolved over time. Initially, I believed that being good at maths was a natural skill, something that some people inherently had more of than others. This belief was reinforced when I joined my sixth form and observed the wide range of skill levels among my peers. Yet, as I delved deeper into the subject, I learned that maths is, in fact, a learned skill—one that anyone can practice and develop over time. This inspired me to create a teaching environment that fosters learning, growth, and collaboration. My goal is to help you realise that success in maths doesn't require innate talent; rather, it is about dedication, practice, and a willingness to learn. I am dedicated to breaking the stigma that only naturally "smart" individuals can excel in maths. My approach is to support and guide you in your learning journey, helping you build the skills and confidence needed to succeed. I look forward to working with you and helping you unlock your potential in mathematics.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach revolves around personalising each lesson to ensure it aligns with the student's learning style and pace. I strive to make maths relatable and enjoyable by breaking down complex concepts into digestible core ideas. By using practical examples and real-world applications, I aim to illustrate how mathematical principles are used beyond the classroom, helping students perceive the subject as relevant and engaging rather than purely theoretical. Each lesson usually spans 60 to 90 minutes, allowing sufficient time to explore topics thoroughly while maintaining focus and enthusiasm. I am currently doing a degree in Computer Science, have achieved A* in Maths and Further Maths and have several years of experience tutoring students at GCSE level. My background includes working with diverse learner profiles, including those preparing for exams and those seeking to improve their overall understanding of mathematics. My lessons cater to students aged 14 to 16 who are preparing for their GCSEs, including those studying Further Maths. I work with pupils across varying skill levels—from those needing foundational support to those seeking advanced challenges. I am dedicated to adapting my teaching style to meet individual needs, ensuring each student can achieve their academic goals and develop a lasting appreciation for mathematics.
