About David
Throughout my teaching/training career, I've established a reputation as being an instructor who never fears leaving his "comfort zone." Technology changes constantly, and it's important to not get stuck by specializing in any particular area. To be an effective Computer Science Teacher, you need to be a generalist, to know about a wide variety of topics. Computer Science covers not just programming, but networks, databases, and much more. Even if I've never taught a particular topic before, I have the "scaffolding" to quickly get up to speed.

Hi! I spent 15+ years in the computer industry, fulfilling a wide variety of roles (Systems Analyst, Project Manager, etc.) before realizing education is my true calling. I've taught Computer Science and other technology-related topics for 23 years: 8 in higher ed, 15 in K-12 schools. From PreK to high school to college to graduate school, I've taught everybody! I've found an inquiry-/project-based approach helps students learn best. There's a purpose in some direct instruction for a subject like Computer Science, but getting students directly involved in their learning experience helps them prepare for further studies and yes, careers/jobs!
