About ALEXIS
Welcome! My name is Alexis Cushing. I am a 5th year ConCurrent Education Student (Junior/Intermediate) and a Bachelor of Arts (English and History) graduate. I am a passionate book reader who revels in a good story. I find joy in a sunny day and in the moments where students "get it". I am a firm believer that a warm and welcoming environment fosters learning, and more importantly, the love for learning. Building the confidence of the student is of utmost importance. As such, errors and mistakes are welcomed and protected. Every improvement and success is celebrated, for every step forward matters. How can I move you one step (or more) forward?

Through co-op placements, tutoring services, and service learning opportunities, I gained an understanding of both formal and informal language learning. I abide by The Ontario Curriculum. In working with the student's teacher (if possible) and the parents, I aim to provide a well-rounded, continual learning cycle; one that does not start and stop during our sessions. My positivity, proficiency, and professionalism have afforded me reputable relationships with local teachers, administrators, and mentors. I have experience in Public K-12 schools and tutoring privately with ages 5-18. Language learning and teaching is most rewarding for me when relationships are built and a love for learning is grown. I celebrate every victory, big or small, for every improvement matters and every student matters.
