About Joshua
Instruction should mimic the clarity of a well-played scale. Placing the bow on the string, we examine the immediate impact of your arm weight and posture. I provide custom scale and etude sheets for each student to ensure that your practice remains purposeful throughout the week.
My 13 years of experience allow me to troubleshoot complex orchestral passages or grade exam requirements with minimal confusion. The BMus training from McGill manifests in my emphasis on nuanced tone production. I observe your left hand position to suggest subtle adjustments that improve intonation and ease of shifting.
You will find that mastering the mechanics of staccato or vibrato becomes accessible when we break them into logical steps. Bringing your violin to our first session will help us get started.
