My classes are heavily focused on active recall, and completing assigned worksheets. Each class begins with a 10-minute review period where I reiterate the topic of the previous class. The rest of the class focuses on teaching the new material, involving active participation from all students. Having completed the IB programme, I can help you get at least a 6 in math through weekly training. I follow closely with the IB SL math syllabus and cover topics such as functions, vectors, statistics, probability, trigonometry, and calculus I. I am an IB graduate from Port Moody Secondary school with two years of tutoring experience from LIT (Learning International Tutoring Club), and being an assistant teacher at Place Des Arts. I specialize in enhancing student's math performance through rigorous weekly questions designed for the individual student. They will focus on improving on student's weaknesses (I assign at least 10 questions covering one concept) to make them feel more comfortable with the concept. My lessons are a good balance between drills, and variety to switch up the thinking so my students won't burn out easily. I go at the student's pace and take great measures to simplify complicated concepts. By the end of a few weeks, my students can enter into a "flow-state" in solving equations and explain the concept to their peers. My experience taught me to systematically cover the syllabus to give students more confidence in class. If the pace of their class at school is too fast, I can go slower and cover the same material in greater depth. I feel very rewarded seeing my students improve on their confidence in solving math problems, so even after class I'd spend a good 10-15 minutes preparing/emailing the homework to them. I consider myself a "one-on-one classroom teacher" so alike most teachers, I'm very approachable and friendly, and the best part is I'm very focused on improving my student's progress.
