"I struggled in elementary school to learn how to read, and I remember feeling so lost and confused because I just did not understand why I was not getting it. My teacher began tutoring me after school, spending her own free time helping me overcome my challenges. I have always been so grateful for her commitment to meet me where I was, which is a value I strive to use in my own teaching.
