About Alex
Creativity and curiosity are my main principles within music. I started my journey since the age of 6 and have a great understanding of the position of first time learners. I find great importance in nurturing the skills and talent someone has, with their interest to learn and improve within a craft. Each individual works in a different way so for me it's important to acknowledge that part, and work with it towards any goals we have in class. I'm a classically trained musician who works within the commercial music industry and specifically within r&b/ neo-soul and hip hop. Regardless of this, I'm versatile in all genres and have performed and worked within the grounds of every style including rock, pop, edm and more. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Music Production (BA), Grade 8 Violin (Trinity, Merit), and ABRSM Grade 6 Theory. I’ve worked one-on-one in composition and production, and I bring that same energy into any session: clear structure, honest guidance, and space to grow on your own terms. Genres of expertise include: Classical, (Baroque, Romantic and more), R&B, neo-soul, Hip Hop, Pop and more.

I have tutored one to ones in creative topics for the past three years. I tutor to create a space where students can learn without pressure — a place to explore, ask questions, and move at their own pace. Whether you’re preparing for an exam or playing for personal growth, the lessons are structured around your goals and how you learn best. A typical violin session includes warm-ups, scales, sight-reading, improvisation, and technical exercises — plus work on a piece or song you’re interested in. I often introduce the Pomodoro technique to help students manage focus and time during their own practice. I also find it important to check in on your practice habits and organisational style, then help build a plan that supports steady progress. My approach is flexible, especially for creative learners or anyone who feels boxed in by rigid methods. We build a strong foundation and adapt to how you learn and create best.
