About Madelynne

I’m Madelynne Cornish, a qualified Practitioner Coach, audiovisual artist, facilitator and mentor based in Victoria, Australia.

I have maintained a professional audiovisual art practice since 2012, developing projects that explore sound, place and environment. My work has given me first-hand experience of the creative process: developing ideas, working through uncertainty, responding when a project changes direction and continuing to evolve a practice over time.

I am also co-founder of the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture, where for 15 years I facilitated an international residency program for artists and researchers. Through this work, I have spent many years in conversation with creative practitioners at different stages of their careers, encountering the many different ways people approach their work, ideas and creative lives.

I trained with Noble Manhattan Coaching and hold a Practitioner Coach qualification. My approach to creativity coaching is client-centered, bringing my professional coaching training together with my experience as a practicing artist and facilitator.

I understand that a creative practice rarely follows a straight line. Ideas change, uncertainty is part of the process, blocks arise, and sometimes the questions surrounding the work become as important as the work itself.

Creativity coaching provides a space to explore those questions, hear yourself think and discover what feels right for your own practice and where you want to take it next.

About the lesson

My approach to creativity coaching is client-centred and begins with you, your creative practice and what you want to explore.

You may be developing an idea, experiencing a creative block, questioning the direction of your practice, feeling uncertain about what comes next, or wanting to make space for something new. Through conversation, careful listening and thoughtful questions, we explore what is happening in your creative life, what matters to you and what possibilities might be emerging.

Each session begins with what you want to explore that day. Our conversation might move through an idea, a decision, a challenge or something you have been noticing in your practice. The focus is on creating space to think out loud, become more aware of what is shaping your choices and discover your own way forward.

Sessions are 60 minutes and are generally held fortnightly, giving you time between sessions to reflect, experiment and notice what emerges in your practice. I work with clients over a minimum of four sessions, allowing the coaching relationship and exploration to develop over time.

Creativity coaching is for adult artists and creative practitioners at any stage of their practice, from those beginning to establish a creative practice to experienced practitioners exploring a new direction or period of change.
