About Caitlin
My name is Caitlin O’Neill and I am an accounting and Spanish student at the University of Glasgow. As a native English speaker, I recognised at a young age the importance of embracing culture and diversity. Language has been an important part of my life for the last 6 years now. However, I have always felt that there has been a gap in the teaching methodologies applied by lecturers and teachers. As a fellow learner, I often felt disadvantaged with my learning as I am the first member of my family and friends to speak another language. I often never got the opportunity to speak and therefore had no confidence to do so. I would like to break the barrier for so many other speakers who also don’t have the opportunity to interact with other speakers. I believe that through early communication and conversations one can develop skills applicable to both outside and inside the classroom.

Following on from the knowledge you have learnt in class, I seek to provide support, improve confidence and expand existing knowledge to improve your grade in SQA exams. As a Spanish learner for over 6 years now I understand the importance of engaging with fellow speakers at an earlier point in a student's journey. Lessons can be tailored to students to reflect interest and areas of weakness. Lessons can be up to a maximum of 1hr per student with flexibility to do more as exam dates approach. Lessons are more suitable for those students studying towards their national 5 and higher qualifications, also open to engage with students at beginner level.
