I am a 3rd year medical student at the University of Edinburgh. I received 4/4 medicine offers from Newcastle, Bristol, and Nottingham. Outside of my studies I enjoy exploring the Scottish hills and am an active member of the university mountaineering and hillwalking clubs.

In 2020, I scored 3260 (815) in the UCAT; a score well into the 1st percentile. I tailor UCAT tutoring to students needs, and work on specific weaknesses in order to ensure students achieve the highest score possible. I break the UCAT down into two parts. Firstly, preparing for the questions through understanding the question structure and specific answer techniques. Secondly, training for "peak" performance on exam day via the use of various mental strategies.
Significant gains in UCAT score are difficult to achieve as it is primarily an aptitude test. However, compared to other aptitude tests the UCAT has a weakness. The question types and structure are known. This allows for students to practice specific question types and develop strategies to answer them most efficiently. As more practice is done, timings can be introduced. Timing strategy can then develop further depending on what ranges a student is scoring in. Tips for exam day can be discussed, its all about performing as close to your absolute maximum as possible.
