About Anna

Customs compliance is the backbone of global trade — yet for many students and professionals entering the field, the gap between textbook theory and real border practice can feel overwhelming.

My goal is simple:
to bridge that gap by breaking down complex customs and trade compliance rules into clear, practical, beginner-friendly explanations that actually make sense in real-world scenarios.

With 7+ years of hands-on experience in Canadian customs and international trade, and dual professional certifications (CTCS, CCS), I’ve worked on both sides of the industry:
High-volume customs brokerage operations
Corporate compliance leadership within a global organization

This allows me to teach not just what the rules say, but how they are applied in practice — and where students and professionals most often get confused.

I specialize in:

HS Classification (Canadian 10-digit tariff lines)
Customs Valuation & value for duty
Country of Origin & free trade agreements
CBSA processes, documentation, and compliance fundamentals
Exam preparation support (CCS / CTCS)
Career guidance for those entering customs, trade, or logistics roles

I have also taught customs and trade concepts at the post-secondary level, and I hold the academic qualifications to teach economics, which helps me explain not just how customs rules work — but why they exist.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I developed an interest in customs tutoring during my early studying in college. I was always curious about how to improve the quality of studying and learning new things, and that curiosity naturally evolved into a deep passion for helping students to exploring the subject further.

What makes me passionate about my subject is the endless opportunities to learn and discover new things. I love the challenge of solving problems in customs and the satisfaction that comes from making complex concepts understandable and accessible to others.
