About Jacob
I'm a Defense Industrial Base (DIB) security & compliance engineer. I also have prior experience at NASA as a contractor on the Artemis campaign, as well as prior experience teaching as a cybersecurity subject matter expert for an international online private school.
I'm passionate about my work, which is why I enjoy teaching others. If you want to learn about cybersecurity, GRC, policy & strategy, etc. Then I'll teach it to you. My only real requirement for you as my student is that you're engaged and willing to learn.
I offer both online and in-person lessons. I'm located in Ypsilanti, MI, and willing to travel to Ann Arbor, Canton, or Plymouth.

My teaching methods: I take a custom approach with every student. If the way information is being presented isn't working, and you're not learning it, then we'll try something new. All I ask is that you're engaged and willing to learn.
Typical lesson plan: While my lesson plans are customized to your learning style, they typically involve a combination of PowerPoint slides + lecture to present an idea, followed by 1:1 conversation to explore and reinforce the topic, then some kind of small project to give you an opportunity to put theory into practice.
What sets me apart as a tutor: Despite my prior experience, I'm not an industry dinosaur. I moved up quickly in my field, so being closer in age to those I mentor has allowed me to connect with my students on a more personal level. The information I specialize in is content-heavy; from prior experience, being able to joke and banter somewhat makes the lessons more impactful.
