About Daniel

Hello! My name is Dan. I am a senior in Cybersecurity at Purdue University. I am from Atlanta, Georgia, and have since lived in Indiana to complete my Bachelor of Science. I also lived in Beijing, China for a year of high school.

As a student of sixteen years, I understand the struggle of classes in which the instructors fail to inspire their students. Lengthy memorization-based lectures can turn an interesting subject into a difficult, and sometimes, disappointing series of tasks.

As a teaching assistant in a senior cyber forensics class, I value the importance of explaining concepts in a clear, articulate fashion. I have found that students who engage with the material through an assisted learning platform tend to perform much better in their careers. Therefore, it is my goal to help you achieve your goals in the field of computer science. I hope to meet you soon!

About the lesson

My teaching style is adaptive based on the student’s previous experience. I utilize a hands-on approach, where I will assist the student in developing their own software development techniques. Students most interested in web design, computer science fundamentals, and those interested in building their own personal projects will enjoy my collaborative approach to teaching.

My lessons are for middle school, high school AP Computer Science students, Undergraduate CS and IT students (1st or 2nd year).

Due to the nature of CS, a rigid lesson plan is unavailable until I have met the student. From an initial consultation or a background before our first lesson, I will be able to put together an agenda that will enable the student’s success.

I have demonstrated proficient knowledge and skills in the following languages and abilities:
- Java/C/Rust
- Web design, multiple frameworks (i.e. React)
- SQL, noSQL, Graph database query language
- Python, Javascript
- IT fundamentals (cloud deployment, networking)
- Machine Learning concepts in Tensorflow
