About Arun
Hi, I am Arun Prakash, currently working as a Senior Data Scientist in a major retail in Australia. I started my tech career working as a software developer and full-stack web developer in India and then came to Australia to pursue my master's in computer science from the University of Queensland, focusing on machine learning and deep learning. During my master's degree, I won first prize in a few data science and machine learning hackathons in Australia and ranked 4th out of 7000 participants in a global computer vision contest, and that led me to grab data science job opportunities here across industries such as mining and retail, and also I've been constantly teaching and helping people here. For my overall contribution in data science in Australia, I was awarded Distinguished Talent Visa (permanent residency) by the Australian Govt. In my industry data science experience, I have built and deployed various prediction models using different architectures and algorithms such as tree-based, convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, transformer-based models etc. I focus on building end to end data science applications such as data cleaning, feature engineering, model building, model validations, cloud model deployment(AWS, GCP), writing well-documented production code, API dev, and demo apps.
