About Simon
Hi there! My name is Simon, and I'm an English and Media teacher living in Salisbury, Wiltshire. I'm deeply passionate about my chosen subjects, and love to share my enthusiasm to help others develop their appreciation and understanding of these richly rewarding areas of study. I hold a First Class Honours degree in English Literature with English Language; particular academic interests include Shakespeare, literary theory and sociolinguistics. I also hold a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training.

I have over a decade's experience as a teacher in post-16 education. During this time, I have taught across the spectrum of English related subjects, including Functional Skills English at Levels 1 and 2, GCSE English Language, A Level English Literature, A Level English Language, A Level Media Studies and BTEC / CTEC Vocational Media Studies at Levels 2 and 3. I have also taught both A Level and bespoke Creative Writing courses, as well as general essay writing and English skills development, to both teenagers and adult Access to University students.
I am an approachable, empathetic and friendly tutor who is always willing to listen. I firmly believe that academic rigour and high-level skills building do not have to be delivered with strict, rigid formality; I am deeply student-focused, and willing to adapt my approach to the given curriculum depending on the individual student with whom I am working. Most of all, I love my subjects and hope to spark curiosity and enthusiasm in my students!
