About Tess
I’m a violin tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Early Music, specializing in Baroque Violin. My passion lies in teaching folk violin traditions, including Irish, Scottish, and American Old-Time styles. I focus on helping students master ornamentation and rhythmic bowing patterns that bring these traditions to life. I believe in learning by ear, encouraging students to develop a strong musical ear alongside technical skills. My lessons use folk jam tracks and drone tuners to support tuning and timing in a fun, immersive way.
