About Steven
I am an experienced elementary school teacher with a dedication to fostering relationships and getting students to understand the outcomes of the lessons instead of just memorizing the lines. I have been teaching for many years now, though not all of it has been in academia. I started as a dance teacher, teaching at the studio environment I grew up in for over ten years at this point. I have two years of substitute teaching experience, and a half year of teaching grade 7 as the full time homeroom teacher.
I have a passion to instruction and love nothing more than seeing my students succeed. Whether succeeding means they understood the lesson completely, or accomplished something they may have been stuck on for a while, my main goal is to see a sense of understanding and gain from my students.
Everyone learns differently, and I have been working hard on finding ways to make every lesson make sense in some way to my students. Whether that is completely reframing the lesson, or approaching the original idea in a new way, I'm always looking for solutions that may bring a better understanding to anyone who needs it.

I am looking to teach elementary to high school students in all classes and levels that I may have knowledge and experience in. I am a very hands on teacher that is quite capable of adapting to all learning styles. I've had real classroom experience both subbing in my local school districts as well as teaching grade 7 full time. I am capable of tutoring college level English and Social Studies courses, as well as editing and going over essay work. My Education degree major was English, with a minor in Social Studies, but I have experience teaching math, sciences, and all sorts of other subjects at the high school and elementary levels.
I enjoy discussion based teaching, sharing multiple examples and trying to relate them to real world scenarios that may help the students understand them on a more personal level.
A typical lesson from me can be dynamic or calm depending on the students and information being taught and discussed. I am very flexible in trying to tailor my lessons to the needs of the student.
