I am a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Toronto offering in-home guitar lessons. Having completed my previous studies in California and Amsterdam, I have over 10 years of experience in performance. Over the years, I have also taught students from various levels and age groups in different countries.
I am patient and approachable and will modify the lessons to suit the level and interests of each student. Based on your current level, interests, and goals I make short and long-term plans for your lessons and help you in achieving them. For example, if you want to learn a specific piece or style of music, I will teach you the required techniques for that piece through breaking them down into a number of easier studies so that you can eventually play your favorite music!
Last but not least, I offer a free introductory lesson, so that we can get to know each other and find out about your interests and goals, and see how I could help you achieve them.
Also if you need to buy a guitar and need help with that, I will be happy to help you choose a proper instrument.
Please don't hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them!
I currently work as a Teacher Assistant at the University of Toronto, coaching guitar chamber ensembles of undergrad students and preparing them for the end-of-semester concerts, which has been a fantastic experience!
During my graduate and undergraduate studies, I have taught students of all levels and age groups (6 years and up). I have also completed courses in pedagogy and psychology of teaching during my undergrad studies, which have given me the tools to understand each individual student's needs and interests and plan the lessons accordingly.
I'm currently completing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the UofT, my previous education includes a Master of Music in guitar performance from California State University, Fullerton and a Bachelor of Music from Conservatory of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
My performance experience includes playing solo and chamber music concerts, as well as appearances in festivals and master classes in Canada, USA, Netherlands, Germany, and Iran.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with several fantastic guitarists as my private teachers, as well as having master classes with many world-renowned artists, from whom I learned many subtle details about music, guitar, and performance.
I'm very excited to share those experiences with my students, whom I'm sure will develop a passion for guitar playing.
