About Christina
Hello! My name is Christina and I am a third year student at Duke University. I am passionate about human connection and math, so I have been working with students as a tutor/instructor for 6 years. I have been a Teaching Assistant/Tutor for the Duke Math Department for 3 years and assisted domestic and international students with mastery of higher level math. I was also the Lead Instructor at Mathnasium: Red Rock for 3 years and became the center's Numerical Fluency Specialist where I was trained to most effectively teach children foundational concepts. I have also private tutored for secondary standardized tests (AP Calculus, IB Math, SAT, ACT) of which I have personally scored perfect or near perfect scores. My approach of instruction is personalized to your learning style. I love working with people and look forward to making math make sense!

With 6 years of experience, I have refined my ability to adapt to each student to deliver the most optimal instruction. This typically includes a careful breakdown of concepts with a plethora of visuals and examples to establish knowledge. This is then followed by socratic questioning and discussion to ensure the student can explain the "why's" and "how's" of mathematical concepts to solidify deeper understanding. The session can focus on review of current class material of the student (homework, lectures, exams) or can focus on getting ahead and learning future material. I was the preferred tutor for young students learning foundational concepts as well as for secondary students preparing for standardized tests at Mathnasium, but experienced in teaching all ages. For children below the age of 7, I recommend 30-40 minute session. For other students, sessions are typically an hour. They can be conducted via Zoom or in person.
