About Ashton

I am a Second Year Undergraduate student at the Durham University - which is part of the Russell Group - where I study BSc Accounting and Finance.

I achieved A*AAB in Business Studies, Maths, English Literature and Further Maths respectively.

During my studies in secondary education I realised that many of my peers were able to get high grades but simply lacked the confidence in themselves to achieve them. Therefore, by embarking on my journey as a tutor, I aim to ensure that each and every student feels capable and firmly able to access their content at GCSE and A Level standards.

I value individualised teaching styles and feel that classrooms simply don't provide the level of personalisation that tutoring is able to. So each lesson will be handcrafted and specialised to the students' exact needs to progress well in their education.

About the lesson

Lessons will last for one hour. To begin, I shall set introductory work from the topic of the current session which will vary between equation practice, quick fire questions and sample exam questions. This is so students can retrieve knowledge that they may have already learnt in class, embedding it into their long-term memory, and simultaneously encouraging engagement with the current topic in a fun and creative way.

This will be followed by exam-styled questions which will nurture growth in understanding and the lesson will end with provocative higher standard problems to strengthen and stretch the student's confidence and skill going forwards. As a tutor, I believe in building belief in the students' own abilities and helping them realise that they are capable of achieving their goals.

These lessons are for any student taking GCSE or A-Level Maths and are willing to further themselves!
