About Jessica
Hello! My name is Jessica Zimmer, and I am a fourth year student at the University of Michigan studying Education, Spanish, Psychology, and Math. I have finished my course work for my Spanish and Psychology Bachelor's degrees and am doing my student teaching this upcoming fall. I substitute teach part-time, and I have a lot of experience tutoring. I especially love to tutor in Spanish because I speak Spanish (B2 level) and want to be a full-time Spanish teacher when I graduate next year. I look forward to meeting you!

I believe that all students can do well in school if they’re given the necessary tools, support, and flexibility.
I like to get to know some of my student's interests and needs before starting tutoring so I can cater my sessions toward them and have the sessions be as effective as possible. The more I know about what a student is going through or what methods don’t work for that student, the more I can help them learn effectively.
When I teach, I focus on making meaning and connections with the material which will allow students to remember material for longer and truly understand it instead of simply relying on repetition and review which can easily be forgotten later.
I also greatly value feedback, asking students (and parents) what they thought went well so I can continue to improve.
