About Lydia

I am a college educated fine art professional who has provided custom commissioned artwork since 2010 and leads fun private art and craft lessons. I have also begun hosting fun and flexible creative activities for child and adult parties in the greater Indianapolis area. I have experience with 2D and 3D media such as, graphite and charcoal drawing, life drawing, illustration, digital illustration, photography, printmaking, painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor), chalk and oil pastel, ceramics, sculpture, collage, layout design. I can also provide business guidance to artists who desire to showcase, market, and sell their work.

About the lesson

Teddy Rosevelt once said, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you're at." I differentiate lessons based on each individual's level of ability, interest, and prior knowledge with flexibility and patience. After determining a student's abilities, prior knowledge, and interests the student and I can form an action plan to reach the student's realistic goals.

As my student we may:

~ Explore the basic Principles and Elements of Art & Design and find creative ways to utilize them in our artworks to effectively convey messages, ideas, and emotions to the audience.

~ Understand the ethical and legal dilemmas of copyright infringement and the "remixing" of artistic themes and subject matter over time, and how to protect yourself.

~ Engage in making deeper connections with our art and the world around us.

~ Process emotions and experiences through the creation of art.

~ Practice techniques in a variety of media

~ Reach goals as outlined in each student's individualized action plan

~ Obtain life-long skills such as creative problem-solving, mental flexibility, the ability to self-reflect and accept constructive criticism, the ability to let things go, confidence in self-expression, and fostering positive self-esteem.

If I am traveling further than 10 miles or during inclement weather, I may request to discuss additional costs to cover transportation.

I request to be notified of lesson cancellations with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Student's who cancel a lesson with less than 48 hours notice may still be expected to pay the agreed upon amount for the reserved time slot.
