About Kyla
I am a highly educated teacher. I have experience and university coursework in Teacher Librarian studies and Special Education. I have a passion for teaching students one on one. I am friendly, outgoing, and love to use humour. I have a young daughter in preschool and a cat. My cat loves to be part of online learning and you may see her if we work online together. In my spare time, I like to swim, snowboard, read, and cook.

My teaching style is to make learning fun. I use play based learning to engage students in my lessons. I use a variety of visual, auditory and hands-on activities to reinforce the learning objective we are working on. I believe in the importance of relationship building and the first session will be getting to know each other.
A typical lesson will include establishing expectations, a review of the previous lesson, a break schedule (this will depend on the needs of the student), a lesson, an activity, and homework.
I have experience adapting lessons to support learners who are struggling; as well as, providing extensions for highly able learners or students that need an extra challenge. This course is for any student in Kindergarten to Grade 5. All abilities are welcome!
