About Simon
As a violin tutor with a bachelor's degree in Music and 8 years of experience, I am dedicated to helping students unlock their potential. My lessons focus on building technical foundations, expressive playing, and musical understanding. Students develop posture, bowing, tone, vibrato, and shifting techniques. I integrate theory, sight-reading, and ear training for comprehensive musicianship.
Beginners gain confidence through structured exercises and simple repertoire. Intermediate students refine phrasing, articulation, and expressive control. In my lessons, sound quality is everything. With a bachelor's in Music and performance experience in orchestras and chamber groups, I teach students how to produce a rich, expressive tone. Lessons focus on bow speed, pressure, and contact point control. We explore how arm weight and movement affect resonance. I emphasize relaxation and efficient technique to prevent tension.
Students practice exercises for tone evenness and projection. Each session includes tone comparison and sound shaping. We analyze recordings to refine listening skills. Beginners learn tone basics through open-string work. Advanced students study dynamic contrasts and tone color blending. I also teach vibrato development for expressiveness. Lessons include tone exercises from the great masters. Feedback is detailed, focusing on sound balance and warmth.
Online and in-person lessons are structured for consistent progress. Over time, students develop tone that truly sings. My goal is to help you discover your personal sound—full, warm, and beautifully expressive.
