About Simon
I am Simon Wells, a tennis instructor with 6 years of experience that has taken me from the wild, unpredictable swings of a complete beginner who could not make contact — to the genuine smile on that same player's face when she finally hit five forehands in a row over the net. My approach is built on encouragement and clarity — I believe every player can improve, and my job is to show you how. I am meticulous about grip and footwork because those are the foundation of everything else. I am endlessly patient with missed shots, with frustration, with the student who needs to hear the same instruction ten different ways before it clicks. And I am genuinely proud every time a student wins a point they would have lost last month, or simply finishes a lesson sweating and laughing instead of sweating and swearing. Whether you want to make your high school team, finally beat your weekend partner, or just stop chasing balls into the next court — I will bring my full attention, my six years of coaching, and my honest excitement for your next breakthrough.

Tennis can feel frustrating when you are starting out — the ball goes everywhere except where you aimed, and it is hard to know what you are doing wrong — but I have spent six years helping players move from that frustration to the joy of a solid rally. Before I feed a single ball, I watch you hit for a few minutes, then I tell you the one thing that is costing you the most points right now — because trying to fix everything at once just leads to overwhelm. For beginners who have never held a racket, we start with the essentials: the right grip for groundstrokes, the split step that turns reaction into anticipation, and a simple, repeatable swing path. We use slower balls on a smaller court if needed — because confidence grows from success, not struggle. For intermediate players who can rally but want more consistency, we diagnose the specific leaks — maybe it is your second serve, your backhand slice, or your footwork when you are on the run — and we drill just those things until they feel automatic. I keep lessons fun, high-energy, and focused on progress, not perfection. Lessons take place at a public court near you — I bring extra rackets and fresh balls.
