About Riley
The joy of learning music is what inspires me to teach guitar to students of all levels. Holding Bachelor’s degrees in Music, I combine technical expertise, performance experience, and 9 years of teaching to create engaging lessons. Lessons start with posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone, then progress to improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is taught practically, making it relevant and applicable to songs students enjoy. Each lesson is customised to the student’s pace, goals, and musical style, creating a motivating and supportive environment.
I emphasise technical skill alongside expressive playing to help students communicate emotion and artistry. Ear training, sight-reading, and performance exercises are integral to developing well-rounded musicianship. Students explore multiple genres, including classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop, broadening musical knowledge. Structured practice routines, feedback, and guidance help learners overcome challenges and maintain steady progress. Milestones are celebrated to encourage perseverance and motivation. I encourage creativity, improvisation, and composition to help students develop their unique musical voice. Lessons balance discipline, technical mastery, and artistic freedom for effective learning. Over time, students gain proficiency, performance readiness, and expressive artistry. Teaching guitar is more than instruction—it is mentorship, guidance, and inspiration. My ultimate goal is to help students play confidently, creatively, and authentically. Every lesson is an opportunity to nurture skill, artistry, and lifelong passion for music.

For me, teaching guitar is storytelling—every chord, melody, and rhythm says something about who we are. With both Bachelor’s degrees in Music, I’ve spent 9 years learning how to communicate through sound and helping others do the same. My lessons are a blend of technical guidance and emotional exploration. I teach students to play fluently, but also to interpret music with feeling and intention. We focus on tone, phrasing, and expression just as much as notes and chords. I make sure every concept connects to real songs and experiences. I encourage creativity through improvisation, composition, and personalised song projects. My classroom philosophy is that learning music should feel like discovery, not instruction.
I tailor lessons to each student’s background, style, and goals. I believe that progress is made when learning feels inspiring. Watching students transform into confident, expressive players is what makes teaching truly meaningful for me.
