About the lesson

Teaching Methodology & Techniques
Diagnostic Assessment: I start every engagement with a brief assessment to pinpoint exactly where a student's knowledge gaps are. This allows me to create a highly targeted plan.

The "Why" Before the "How": I always begin by explaining the purpose and real-world relevance of a concept before teaching the procedure. For example, before teaching long division, I would use a story about sharing cookies among friends to make the concept tangible.

Active Recall: Instead of just lecturing, I frequently ask students to explain a concept back to me in their own words or to solve a problem without looking at their notes.

Spaced Repetition: I would revisit previously learned material in short, consistent intervals to ensure the information moves from short-term to long-term memory.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up (5 min): A quick review of a concept from the last lesson. This could be a single problem or a brief verbal check-in.

Introduction of New Concept (10-15 min): I would introduce the new material, explaining the "why" and using an analogy or real-world example to make it relatable.

Guided Practice (20 min): The student and I would work through a few problems together, with me guiding them and asking probing questions.

Independent Practice (10 min): I would have the student work on a few problems on their own. This is where I would observe their process and identify any lingering misconceptions.

Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 min): We would summarize the key takeaways of the lesson, and I would assign a short homework task that reinforces the day's learning.
