About Kabir
Hi, I'm Kabir! I'm a machine learning engineer who loves helping people understand technology and build things with it.
I earned my degree from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), one of the most selective engineering programs in the world. I then spent 4.5 years at Verkada, a Bay Area security-tech company, building computer vision and AI systems used in real products. Along the way, I was named on two patents and co-authored a paper presented at a NeurIPS workshop, one of the leading conferences in artificial intelligence.
What I enjoy most about my work is explaining it. I've mentored colleagues, broken down complex models for non-technical teams, and helped friends make their first steps into programming. I believe anyone can learn to code and understand AI with the right guidance and a bit of patience.
Beyond engineering, I'm also a dance instructor and run a dance events business in the San Francisco Bay Area. Teaching dance has taught me to be patient, encouraging, and clear, and to adapt to how each person learns best.
As your tutor, you can count on me to be punctual, prepared, and fully invested in your progress. Whether you're writing your first line of Python or preparing for a machine learning interview, I'll help you get there with confidence.
I look forward to working with you!

My approach: learn by building, understand the "why."
I've spent 5 years building real AI and computer vision systems, so I teach the way engineers actually learn: by writing code, breaking it, and fixing it. Every concept is tied to a concrete example you can run yourself, and I always explain the intuition first, then the math or the syntax. I check understanding by asking you to explain things back to me or solve a small variation on your own, so you leave with real skills, not just notes.
A typical lesson:
1. Quick check-in (5 min): what you're working on, what's confusing, and your goal for the session.
2. Concept (15–20 min): I explain the idea simply, with visuals and a live code example.
3. Hands-on practice (20–25 min): you write the code or solve the problem while I guide you, rather than watching me do it.
4. Recap and next steps (5 min): a short summary, plus a practice exercise or mini-project to do before next time.
Lessons are fully adapted to you. If you have homework, an exam, an interview, or a project deadline, we focus on that.
What sets me apart:
- Real industry experience: I've built production machine learning systems, hold two patents, and have published at a NeurIPS workshop, so you learn how things work in practice, not just in textbooks.
- Strong foundations: I'm an IIT graduate, so I can go deep on the math and theory when you need it.
- Patience and clarity: I'm also a dance instructor, and I know how to break complex skills into small, achievable steps.
Who the lessons are for:
- High school students learning programming or preparing for AP Computer Science
- College students in CS, data science, or engineering courses (data structures, algorithms, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision)
- Career-changers and bootcamp students learning Python and getting into tech
- Job seekers preparing for coding and machine learning interviews
- Professionals who want to understand and use AI in their work
Beginners are welcome. Advanced students can work on research-level topics, projects, and portfolio building.
