About Michael

You can call me Michael. I’m an Engineering student, and that path says a lot about how I think. I’m drawn to problems, logic, and figuring out how things actually work rather than just taking them at face value. Math and Physics aren’t only subjects I teach; they’re the tools I use and enjoy every day in my own degree.

Academically, I completed the International and Pearson Edexcel A-Levels in Mathematics, Physics and Economics, with Physics being my strongest subject. Studying in an international environment alongside students from many different countries shaped how I communicate. I’ve learned to explain ideas in more than one way and to read when someone is following along and when they’re quietly lost.

Outside of study, I genuinely like working with younger learners. There’s a particular kind of satisfaction in watching someone go from dreading a subject to feeling capable in it. That patience and encouragement matter just as much to me as results.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is built around understanding, not memorizing. Growing up, I found Math boring and difficult because it was taught as a list of formulas to plug numbers into. One teacher changed that for me by connecting theory to real applications, and that’s exactly the experience I want to pass on to my students.

I teach Math and Physics online, from K-12 up to Year 12, across the CIE and Edexcel A-Level syllabuses and the HSC curriculum. My lessons typically run as online one-on-one sessions tailored to each student’s level and goals, whether you’re building foundations, catching up, or aiming for top marks.

In practice, I break tricky concepts down step by step, use graphical visualizations and real-world examples, and have students practice challenging questions with consistency until the ideas genuinely click. When teaching Calculus, for instance, I connect derivatives to speed, motion and rates of change so students see the meaning behind the math, not just the method.

I know every student learns differently, so I adapt to each one, some thrive on practice questions, others on visual demonstrations.

My experience tutoring at a British International School, coaching students for Math and Physics competitions in Vietnam, taught me to work with a wide range of learners and cultures.

My goal is simple: for students to leave saying Math and Physics might just be one of their favorite subjects!
