About Olukorede
Hi, I’m Korex.
I studied English and Linguistics at university, but my relationship with English goes far beyond the classroom. For most of my professional life, I’ve worked in broadcast media, filmmaking, writing, communications, and storytelling. So words are a big part of what I do every day.
I’ve also taught at university level, and one thing I learned from teaching is that people don’t all learn the same way. Sometimes you just need someone who is patient enough to explain something differently until it clicks.
That’s the kind of tutor I try to be.
Whether you want to speak English more confidently, improve your grammar, become a stronger writer, get help with schoolwork, or develop your creative writing, we’ll start with where you are and work towards where you want to be.
I especially enjoy working with people who may know what they want to say but struggle to find the right words. There’s no pressure to be perfect in my lessons. Ask questions, make mistakes, try again, that’s how we learn.
And because I use English professionally as a writer, filmmaker, and communicator, I can also help you understand how the language works outside textbooks. In conversations, workplaces, presentations, stories, and everyday life.

My approach to teaching English is practical, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. I believe people learn language best when they understand not only the rules, but also how to use English confidently in real situations.
With a degree in English Linguistics and experience teaching at university level, as well as a professional career in writing, storytelling, communications, and media, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world experience into my lessons.
My Teaching Method
I begin by understanding each student's goals, strengths, and areas where they need support. From there, I design lessons around practical exercises, conversation, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.
Rather than simply correcting mistakes, I explain why something works and help students recognize patterns so they can become more confident and independent users of English.
For creative writing students, I also focus on storytelling, structure, character, clarity, tone, and finding your own voice.
A Typical Lesson usually begins with a short conversation or review of what we covered previously. We then focus on one or two specific areas. For example, grammar, pronunciation, reading comprehension, essay writing, vocabulary, or creative writing.
Lessons are adapted to the student rather than following a rigid one-size-fits-all format.
English is both something I studied and something I use professionally.
My background spans linguistics, teaching, filmmaking, screenwriting, communications, and storytelling. This allows me to help students understand the technical side of English while also showing them how language can communicate ideas clearly, persuasively, and creatively.
