Dan was my teacher for a creative writing class in 2025. He arrived prepared with a full course outline that included all the information on style, inspiration, resource recommendations, the art of interpretation and the creative writing process. He taught us (a mixed class of seniors, youth and young parents) to be patient with our skill development but also stressed the importance of discipline, grammar and structure. He is kind (and fast) when offering his feedback and was genuinely happy to be part of each student’s growth. He provided wonderful instruction and was very entertaining which kept us all interested in the work. I would highly recommend Dan to any student (of any age) that is interested in developing skills in appreciating literature, contemporary writing and developing confidence in recreational or school-based learning.

I participated in two sessions of the Creative Writing class that Dan taught in London ON. He is a teacher who sees each student as an individual. Yes, he taught us as a group, but the needs of each student were given individual attention. I learned many key lessons of creative writing, but beyond that, he reinforced the idea that we all matter and deserve to be heard. He provided tools for improvement of the craft, while encouraging self-confidence. I left his classes feeling that no matter how small, my ideas were important. He always seemed to find some way to incorporate my input into a lesson-either in a lesson he taught to the class or in the individual input he provided about my work.
Dan is a very special teacher. He is someone who just naturally finds ways to validate the people in his orbit. That quality of encouragement creates an atmosphere conducive to learning and thriving. I was very lucky to be one of his students.

This past winter, I took a creative writing class taught by Dan. He is someone who brings a lot of energy and passion to his work. I always felt comfortable in his class and had a lot of fun discovering more about writing. Dan is a very kind, warm person. When I was feeling blocked in my writing, he encouraged me to relax and ‘just, let go.’ and most of all to have fun! The material he covered was thorough and touched on many different topics, I left his class feeling like I had a better grasp of the English language. I think he would make an excellent tutor and would recommend him to anyone who is looking to take English lessons.

I attended a number of Creative Writing sessions conducted by Dan Ebbs. The latest was winter 2024. The sessions were sponsored by the City of London. I found Dan’s courses as valuable from the point of view of my writing career and also very entertaining.
