I believe in student lead learning, and always encourage my students to point out sections that they feel is problematic and explain why. Doing so helps them deeply engage with their writing.
Typically I do this after showing the stylistic and grammatical mistakes they have and after explaining how they can correct these issues
My name is Renad. I am a poet and a writer. In my free time I love to read and go on hikes. I enjoy tutoring students and always wish the absolute best for them.
I've been tutoring academic writing at a university level since 2019. In this past year and a half I've tutored well over 100 students. I do not only correct grammar during sessions. I also teach students how to notice problems in their writing and give them the necessary tools to correct these issues.
I am a senior at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) majoring in English Literature and minoring in Marketing. Consequently, I now have impeccable research and data analysis, writing and editing, and some basic knowledge in design.
In your job description, you stated that you were looking for an intern who will assist the execution of marketing and communications initiatives. While I worked as a writing center tutor, I collaborated with our social media specialist to craft a post about writing tips.
As a writing center tutor, I helped students notice problematic patterns in their writing and taught them how to recognize and correct their grammatical errors. When I was not tutoring, I was doing administrative tasks such as scheduling student sessions, printing out handouts about citation and writing when we ran out of copies, and uploaded tutor reflection forms.
I also worked as an editor at the InkBlot Journal. With my colleagues I organized and designed the theme of our journal and the aesthetic of our website. When I first started working there, we held a writing contest where students were expected to write about “friendly writing places.” For this contest I sifted through a handful of submissions, organized them on Google Cloud and critiqued their quality. Once I finished doing so, we decided as a team which submissions would be accepted.
