About Alexandra

English has always been my strong suit; from writing short stories, articles and poems in elementary school to university-level essays and presentations in high school. I was homeschooled by two professional English tutors from grade 5-8, following multiple different courses including the Oak Meadow, in which I excelled in both grammar and creative writing. I have taken four high school English courses, most of which I completed with a 90% or higher average. My educational background is very diverse: I have attended private school, been taught one-on-one by experts and, most recently, pursued traditional Catholic school education.

I am also a part-time rhythmic gymnastics coach with over 4 years of experience. Throughout my career, I have worked with hundreds of children and young adults, helping them be their best in sports as well as personal development - I have always loved working with kids, and teaching has given me communication and teaching skills that set me apart from other tutors. As an aspiring teacher, my foundation is extremely strong as I have both academic and hands-on experience.

As a former homeschooler, I strongly believe in child-led education. I am a strong advocate for curiosity, creativity, and freedom in a child's learning journey, because I believe that those were the keys that unlocked my passion for writing and teaching.

About the lesson

Based on my personal knowledge and discoveries from working with kids of all ages, my lesson plans look something like this:

1. Get to know the student and work together to identify their personal strengths and weaknesses
2. Provide help with homework, assignments, or test prep, supporting the student by breaking down the project into small steps and achievable tasks
3. Building on what they have already learned to create a solid foundation for future learning
4. Provide the student with transferable skills that will help them excel in their academic journey

My lessons are for any student wanting to improve their grades, improve their skills, and become more articulate and clear in their communication. I always provide my own work as examples and am open to communicating with students via email or text messages to further assist with answering any questions at any time!

I offer a free, 30-minute session for the first "lesson" in order to get to know you and see if it's a good fit! Prices are always negotiable, depending on the level and frequency of sessions.
