About Melanie
I am an ESL teacher and published children’s book author (3 books sold on Amazon and a new book being released soon). I am also a wife and a mother of grown children. We love to travel the world and experience new places and cultures. In the summers I teach English to Japanese students and host them throughout the year. Although I largely teach children and teens, I have also taught adult social language classes. One of my degrees is in music performance and our family is very musical. We have a beautiful teddy bear zuchon puppy named Simba.

To speak, read, and write proper English, my students must first be able to learn the names and various sounds of each of the alphabet letters. I use a variety of programs and resources to match the teaching to the needs of each student. Programs such as The Logic of English, Phonics Pathways, Eyewords, UFLI, a sound wall showing how to place the tongue to make tricky sounds like “th”, and others. I teach all the domains to increase fluency and comprehension in both social and academic English language skills.
