About Skylar
Clarity makes the process of learning the violin satisfying. We address posture and hold before moving into the technical work of left hand agility.
My degree from the UBC School of Music informs every technical correction I offer to a student. You will practice bow technique and tuning by ear to build a foundation that lasts. We systematically work through music theory and sight reading to ensure you understand the mechanics of the notes. My goal is to fix intonation and vibrato issues through targeted exercises.
I focus on the requirements for ABRSM and Trinity grade exams. Every minute in our session serves a specific purpose. You will walk away with a clear plan for your practice time.

The scent of rosin and old spruce defined my early years at the UBC School of Music. I practiced scales for hours while balancing my primary violin studies with voice and guitar training.
After 13 years of teaching, I have mentored many students through the rigors of conservatory requirements. My background is rooted in the discipline of classical conservatory culture. I have worked with hundreds of pupils ranging from absolute beginners to advanced performers preparing for high stakes exams. My approach demands precision because musical growth requires clarity.
