About Heather
Admitting that violin progress requires patience is simply where we begin. I personalize each session to ensure that tone production, spiccato, staccato, and vibrato are addressed systematically. Ear training, sight reading, and intonation are constant elements of our work together. For those preparing for ABRSM or Trinity grade exams, I provide a rigorous structure to ensure confidence.
Teenagers and adults find that my orchestral playing insights help them understand the larger musical context of their repertoire. I document our trajectory by providing a monthly progress report shared with parents. This keeps everyone informed about the specific bowing techniques and rhythmic goals we are currently targeting.
We build stability through a clear, organized sequence of study. It is just a matter of following the process.

Have you ever wondered how classical technique shapes a musicians life? Spending 13 years performing folk and classical styles across Canada has defined my perspective on music.
Holding an ARCT degree in Violin, Piano, and Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music, I balance technical precision with a gentle curiosity. My teaching character is rooted in 13 years of performing and instructing students with a methodical, sensitive approach. Students often find my studio is a space where complex concepts become manageable through steady, incremental guidance.
Working with returning learners, grade exam candidates, teens, and working professionals allows me to refine my pedagogical methods regularly. I navigate the challenges of classical training by emphasizing the physical realities of the instrument. My teaching philosophy prioritizes consistent progress over rapid, unearned outcomes.
