About Mai

I am a native Japanese and a qualified tutor. I am living in England with my husband and our 5 years old daughter. Enjoy friendly and fun Japanese lessons with me!

Back in Japan, I had friends from overseas, and I taught one of them with Minna no Nihongo. It was really exciting.
I’ve visited 16 countries and met a lot of people with diverse backgrounds.
I like to go to music events and do outdoor activities. One of my best travelling memories was kayaking in the Baltic Sea in Finland. It was beautiful.
What I used to do in Japan was hiking, going to Onsen, and then Izakaya with my friends. I miss Onsen culture so much. I can show you some hidden gems in Japan.

I worked in Tokyo for over 10 years, so if you’d like to work in Japan, I can help you with writing your CV and practicing for interviews.

It’s not easy to learn languages but it opens your mind and world if you are passionate about learning. I can support you to achieve your goal.

Emi chan is clever and passionate about studying and other hobbies which is impressive. I believe that it would broaden her future if she carries on Japanese little by little.

Perfect! Mai is brilliant - she teaches my son and has brought a tonne of energy, insight and just a really positive all round approach to it. Mai is great at customising her teaching to her student, and using a range of techniques to maintain interest and enthusiasm, all whilst unlocking the Japanese language. I really recommend her!

I am very happy to teach Ted as a young person and ambitious and has a passion for language. I'll definitely enjoy completing the textbook he's already got, and Genki which is a new one together. Hope the language will be a life-long interest for him!

They are enthusiastic about learning. In each lesson, they are unafraid to try new vocabulary and new grammatical structures. I am sure they will enjoy life in Japan next year.
