About Jemima
Hi, I'm Jemima! I'm here to get you excited about all things literary!
I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA Hons in English (1st class) in 2011, and have since been living in Botswana and South Africa where I have been both working and continuing my studies. I completed my MPhil in African Studies (Distinction) at the University of Cape Town in 2016 and am currently working towards my PhD in Literature, also with the University of Cape Town. While living in Cape Town between 2014 and 2017, I taught undergraduates in English Literature at UCT. I designed each of my own seminar courses, covering dynamic topics such as Environmental Literature, Representations of Trauma, and Studies in Tragedy, selecting my own set texts and coursework assignments. I have also tutored privately, assisting students of high-school age in one-on-one sessions in English Literature and Language. Whether teaching larger groups or in private sessions, I love being part of the process of engaging students with literary texts, at any level. I now live in a remote corner of South Africa, with giraffe and zebra in my back garden! I am therefore very excited to be able to conduct Skype tutoring, to reach students from all over the world, from my little spot in paradise.
