About Aaron
I have been a musician for over 12 years, I began playing guitar at the age of 14. I play and study all genres of music, I have played in several bands over the years, won talent shows and currently work in a home studio with a good friend of mine. I am a self-learned musician but I believe I have spent just as much or more time studying the art of music as a music student. Anything from beginner techniques, open chords, basic rhythm patterns to advanced theory, harmony, voicings, arranging, improvising, fingerstyle techniques and accompaniment playing. I have a great sense of communication and connection with other players, regardless of skill level.

I base my lessons on the skill level of the student I am working with and what kind of musician they would like to be. I believe for a beginner player, learning the basic chords and honing in on rhythmic patterns and an understanding of timing are very important. These two skills will have you jamming along with your favorite songs in a short amount of time, and in my opinion, that is important for morale and keeps the student self-motivated. Repetition is a very crucial part of my philosophy, as it has always been a key to success in any walk of life. As the beginner develops into an intermediate/advanced player, I think that is an appropriate time to delve into music theory, alternate chord shapes, inversions, transposing and lead skills. Once a player has a good understanding of rhythm and demonstrates some fluidity through the earlier phase of playing, I would recommend getting into some more advanced aspects of music. Learning melodies, as opposed to chords, and adapting to another approach at the guitar will expand the mind of any player. I also find it helpful to have the rhythm aspect of playing down first as that will greatly assist in this next unit of playing. At this time I would also introduce students to scales, note relationships, how to create melodies and how to improvise over backing tracks. I find this is a good way to organize the lessons as the last unit would be creating your own music. After establishing the fundamentals of guitar and "learning how to learn" and after honing the intermediate and advanced techniques of lead guitar, arranging and improvisation, the only logical direction to go is into creation, composition and performance.
