Experienced Berklee and Trinity Laban Graduate offering violin lessons across classical and non-classical genres.

I had fiddle lessons with Sam for three and a half years. Our lessons were always focussed, fruitful and fun! Sam is very student-centred in his teaching style, building on existing strengths and interests, whilst using his expertise to coach, stretch and introduce new ideas and techniques. No two lessons were ever the same and we covered a variety of styles of music, as well as theory and composition, particular areas of interest for me. I made significant progress under his tutelage, and found his whole approach enthusing and inspiring. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I found Sam as an adult learner looking for violin lessons in my local area. I had played from the age of 7 -17 but had stopped for 7 years. When I started I was nervous just playing in my lessons but Sam grew my confidence so that in a year and a half I comfortably performed at an event to 200-300 people. Having ADHD I have always struggled with practicing scales but Sam has a unique approach which applies scales to repertoire making it far more interesting as opposed to just playing them repeatedly which massively improved my understanding of music theory and my intonation. In the 4 years I worked with Sam I’ve seen a huge improvement in my technique and confidence as well as extending my repertoire from baroque pieces all the way through to 20th century and traditional folk tunes. I would 100% recommend him to any learner at any stage in their life.
