About Helen

Hello! I'm a qualified English teacher with a degree in English Studies, specialising in GCSE English Language and English Literature. With experience teaching in a variety of situations: one to one, small groups and full classes of students across a range of abilities, I understand how to help learners build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve their academic goals.

Alongside my teaching, I am an experienced AQA exam marker. This gives me valuable insight into how exam papers are assessed, what examiners are looking for, and the techniques that help students maximise their marks. I use this knowledge to provide focused exam preparation, improve exam technique, and help students avoid common mistakes.

About the lesson

My 45 minute sessions are personalised to suit each student's individual needs and learning style. Whether you need support with essay writing, analysis of literature, grammar, reading comprehension, creative writing, or exam preparation, I provide clear explanations, structured guidance, and practical strategies that lead to measurable progress.

I believe learning should be engaging, supportive, and enjoyable. I create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, challenging themselves, and growing in confidence. My aim is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop a lasting appreciation of English.

I provide sessions for key stage 3 and Key stage 4 students.
